Chennai-based print giant 'The Hindu' has tied up with the NDTV Group to launch a city-specific channel in Chennai. The launch could take maybe two months or a little longer. The channel will reach the entire Greater Chennai audience.
According to N Murali, Managing Director, The Hindu, "We are partnering with NDTV for a metro specific channel in Chennai. The channel will be called 'NDTV MetroNation' which NDTV has launched successfully in Delhi."
Chennai's MetroNation will have programmes on parenting, food, sports, lifestyle, entertainment, events and the youth. "NDTV plans to roll out its metro-specific channels, and is partnering with us for its Chennai channel. NDTV is a very strong brand name, and we are strong in Chennai. Therefore we thought there was a good synergy between us," added Murali. When asked about the distribution and other aspects, Murali said that those issues were yet to be discussed upon.
